London Dec. 31, 1825 newspaper is quite a unique find. This is the year-end recap for the St. James Chronicle and General Evening Post, including lists of the year’s casualties and deaths by cause, such as beridden bile, insanity, lethargy, frighted, execution and my personal favorite, "suddenly." It includes tidbits on slavery and an outlandish story of death and mayhem at a church, which includes the following statement: "A scene of horror happened in this town…. The chapel being crowded to excess, some women and children began to groan and complain of the intense pressure. A sudden panic seized the crowd when a cry (perfectly unfounded) that the gallery was giving way resounded through the chapel. A frantic rush towards the only floor common to the floor and gallery took place. Women and children were instantly crushed to death or suffocated…"--$30

Civil War-era Philadelphia Inquirer, Dec. 3, 1861 with stories from the scenes of battle at Fort Pickens--$25.
